The Doctoral School celebrates the Doctoral Open Day at the UPC

On May 14, the Doctoral School of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) held its Doctoral Open Day, an information session aimed at everyone interested in starting or continuing their research career at the UPC

The event aimed to promote doctoral studies, the value of research and innovation, and the resources and support structures available to PhD students.

The day began with an institutional greeting and welcome by the director of the Doctoral School, Dr. Cristina Canal Barnils, followed by the UPC institutional phase of the “Present your thesis in 4 minutes” competition, organized by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI), in which the finalists presented their oral expositions before the attending public.

Next, the deputy director of the Doctoral School, Lluís Jofre Cruanyes, carried out the presentation of doctoral studies, centered on the value of research, innovation, and talent, as well as the access routes and the search for information to join a doctoral program at the UPC.

The day continued with the announcement and the awarding of the prizes for the institutional phase of the “Present your thesis in 4 minutes” competition, in which the winners of the 9th edition of the contest were recognized:: 

  • 1st Place: Ricardo Mancha

  • 2nd Place: María del Pilar Gamarra Gamarra

  • 3rd Place: Germán Fañanás Puigjaner

The event ended with the institutional closing and an open space for inquiries about scholarships, industrial doctorate, access, and admission. Additionally, the attendees were able to enjoy an appetizer, which encouraged the exchange of experiences and contact between participants
