New call for Industrial Doctoral Grants - DI 2023

The call for grants for Industrial Doctorates (DI 2023) has been published and is active.

The purpose of this call is to provide grants to universities, research centres and hospital foundations, as well as companies for the development of an industrial doctoral project, in any field of knowledge and in any business sector.

The research project must be developed within the strategic framework of a company and, at the same time, within a research group of a university, research centre, technology centre or hospital foundation, where the doctoral student must carry out his research training, which must lead to a doctoral thesis within the framework of the Industrial Doctorate Plan of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The application can be submitted at any time of the year, but the deadlines must be taken into account in accordance with the different partial resolutions that are expected:

  • For the first partial resolution: until 25 April 2023, at 2 p.m. (Barcelona local time).
  • For the second partial resolution: from 26 April 2023 to 5 October 2023, at 2 p.m. (Barcelona local time).  
  • For the third partial resolution: from 6 October 2023 to 11 December 2023, at 2 p.m. (Barcelona local time).  

Main news of the DI 2023 call

  • The amounts of the different eligible items have increased.
  • The tuition subsidy and the industrial doctoral student's mobility bag have been unified in a single concept.
  • An incentive has been created to promote the internationalization of industrial doctoral projects. If, at the time of depositing the thesis, the doctoral student requests the international mention, both the business environment and the academic environment may receive an extra contribution of €2,000. This extraordinary bonus will be paid once the project has been fully justified and the corresponding evidence has been provided.
  • The specific aid modality will include a contribution to the academic environment, identical to that received by the doctoral student: €10,800.
  • In relation to the participation of public administrations and the public sector of the Generalitat of Catalonia:
    • They will only be eligible within the specific aid modality. In no case is a contribution to the public business environment contemplated.
    •  In addition to eligible public entities (public sector, administrations and local entities), departments, territorial services and delegations are eligible.
