First Edition of the PhD-IRIS Awards: Technology and Health

This initiative, promoted by the Institute for Health Research and Innovation of the UPC (IRIS-UPC) in collaboration with ESEIAAT, FOOT, and INTEXTER, aims to boost, enhance, and provide institutional visibility to the research of excellence carried out by researchers in training at the intersection of health science and technology.
The competition consists of two evaluation phases:

Selection phase: Submission of a vertical format video (between 1 and 2 minutes) that synthetically presents the context, relevance, and results of the research.

In-person final phase: Defense of the 8 selected projects in a 3-minute pitch format (with a maximum of 5 slides) during the Technology and Health Conference in Terrassa.
What do the grants include?

1st prize: €500 gross.

2nd and 3rd prize: €250 gross each.
PhD students who are or have been linked to the UPC through a scholarship or contract at any point during the 2025-2026 academic year under a university doctoral program are eligible to apply. The topic of the thesis must be linked to technology and health, and it is an essential requirement to be available to attend the in-person grand final on July 16, 2026, at ESEIAAT (Terrassa).
The deadline for submitting applications ends on June 30, 2026, at 13:00 hours.
