The UPC participates in the final of the “Present your thesis in 4 minutes” contest with doctoral student Ricardo Mancha

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) participated yesterday in the interuniversity final of the "Present your thesis in 4 minutes" competition, held in Vic and organized by the Department of Research and Universities, the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia, and the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI), with the collaboration of the twelve Catalan universities.

The UPC representative was Ricardo Mancha, a PhD student from the Biomedical Engineering program, who presented his thesis titled "Una foto que puede salvar vidas", within the framework of this scientific dissemination challenge that consists of explaining a doctoral thesis in just four minutes, in a clear and accessible way for the general public.

The final brought together the twelve finalists from Catalan universities, previously selected in the internal phases of their centers, in a day dedicated to scientific communication and research dissemination. In total, 157 PhD students from Catalan universities participated.

The first prize, worth 2,500 euros, went to Fatima El Bouhali (Universitat Rovira i Virgili), who also received the "Assumpció Català i Poch" special mention for the best thesis in Catalan, worth 1,000 euros. The second prize (1,500 euros) went to Albert Salas (Universitat Ramon Llull), while the third prize (1,000 euros) went to Toni Capó (Universitat de Barcelona). The public prize, also worth 1,000 euros, went to Roger Casals (Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya).

The "Present your thesis in 4 minutes" competition aims to promote the communication skills of PhD students and encourage the transfer of knowledge to society through a brief and informative format.
