European Doctoral Day

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) participates in European Doctoral Day , a Europe-wide initiative held annually on May 13th, starting in 2026, within the framework of Europe Month.
This day was established to highlight the fundamental role of the doctorate and doctoral training in driving scientific excellence, innovation, and social progress, both within and outside the academic sphere.
The primary goals of European Doctoral Day are:
- Inspire European and international students to pursue doctoral studies
- Increase recognition of doctoral skills and competencies among employers
- Showcase the diversity of career paths and the social impact of PhD holders
This initiative also reinforces key elements defining the European Research Area, such as the European origins of the research-based doctoral training model, the wide variety of doctoral opportunities, and the continent's cultural and scientific richness.
The UPC joins this movement by organizing its own activities that highlight the doctoral research developed at the university.
