Share your research and participate in the 6th edition of the #HiloTesis 2026 competition.
Apr 24, 2026

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), through the Doctoral School, joins the sixth edition of the #HiloTesis: Your doctoral thesis on social media, promoted by the Network for Science Outreach and Scientific Culture (RedDivulga) of the R+D+i section of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), with the support of the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation.
This initiative aims to promote the development of communication and science outreach skills among researchers in training and those who have recently defended their doctoral thesis. The challenge is to explain what they are researching, how they are doing it, and why it is relevant to society, using an accessible, visual, and engaging format.
Share your thesis on Instagram
Participants must present their research in a carousel format on Instagram, adapting the content of their thesis into simple, easy-to-understand, and visually appealing language. The first post must include the hashtag #HiloTesis and, if possible, mention or tag @crueuniversidad, @fundacionignaciolarramendi, and @la_UPC.
PhD students currently enrolled in doctoral programs, as well as individuals who have defended their thesis within the last 12 months, are eligible to participate, provided they have authorization from their thesis supervisor and ensure that the content is suitable for public dissemination.
Deadlines and participation
The competition will take place from 00:00 on May 1 until 23:59 on May 21, 2026 (CEST). During this period, participants must:
- Post the carousel on Instagram
- Complete the registration form within the same period.
No applications will be accepted after the deadline or if they have not been correctly registered.
Posts may be created in Spanish or in any of the co-official languages of the State.
A boost for science outreach
#HiloTesis aims to bring university research closer to society and reinforce outreach as an essential part of research activity. Furthermore, it allows for:
- Give visibility to doctoral work
- Develop key communication skills
- Connect with the scientific community on social media
