The cross-disciplinary training course "Technology-based Innovation Project" is open for enrolment

Doctoral studies' objective is the comprehensive training of researchers, that they are able to lead innovation, research, and the transfer of knowledge to society, as to seek its progress and the improvement of well-being. For this reason, it is necessary to complement the research that is carried out during the doctorate with the acquisition of cross-disciplinary skills that provide doctoral students with the necessary competences to develop this key role in our society.

The Technology-based Innovation Project course is part of this cross-disciplinary training, belonging to the innovation and creativity line. The main objective of this line is to foster the capacity for innovation and creativity in research projects, preparing doctoral students to tackle complex challenges and provide innovative solutions. The courses are taught by UPC teachers using a training methodology based on challenges.

 

The Technology-based Innovation Project is organized by the Department of Management and the Electronic Engineering DepartmentIts learning objectives are to understand a given technology's main features and associated applications and business models, to identify possible new applications of a given technology, emphasizing the ones with more social impact and to define alternative business models for a given application of the technology. Regarding the teaching methodology, the course will be performed by alternating introductory methodology pills, collaborative work, and the project-based method. Students of different doctoral programmes will be mixed to build interdisciplinary teams. The teaching language is English.

The course will take place in Campus Nord, and it has a 15-hour duration with 5 different sessions, set from 10:00 to 13:00 on the following dates: 31-01-24, 7-02-24, 28-02-24, 6-03-24 and 20-03-24.

The Technology-based Innovation Project can be completed independently, like the Challenge-based Innovation Project. However, if you want to take the full itinerary, which also includes the course Entrepreneurship for Research Projects from the Valorization of research results and entrepreneurship line, it is recommended to take them in the following order:

  1. Challenge-based Innovation Project
  2. Technology-based Innovation Project
  3. Entrepreneurship for Research Projects

It is planned to schedule new editions of these activities for the 2024-2025 academic year.
