Open call for the Industrial Tech Pre‑acceleration Programme – 4th Edition

A new call has been launched for the Industrial Tech Pre‑acceleration Programme – 4th Edition, in which our university is participating once again as part of the Emprèn UPC programme. This free programme, open to anyone interested in industrial entrepreneurship (whether or not they are part of the UPC community), is funded by the Department of Business and Labour and co‑financed by the European Social Fund Plus. Its aim is to drive sector‑specialised entrepreneurship based on innovation and technology.

  • Dates: 15 September to 12 December.

  • Commitment: 8–10 hours per week (over 15 weeks).

  • Cost: Free. Funded by the Department of Business and Labour and co‑financed by the European Social Fund Plus.

  • Languages: Spanish / Catalan.

  • Format: Blended/100% online.

  • Registration form: Open until 5 September.

Call Details

Territorial and sector‑specialised entrepreneurship promotion programme by the Generalitat of Catalunya. Its aim is to foster sector‑specialised entrepreneurship, grounded in innovation and technology.

Main Requirements

  • Sector focus: specific sector and technical/industrial skills (hardware).
  • Creation of a network of different stakeholders in this specific sector within the local ecosystem – combining three local actors: UPC + CIM UPC + expert (to be confirmed).
  • Training and mentoring: innovation, technology, new business models and entrepreneurship & management training; plus mentoring with experienced mentors in the chosen field and entrepreneurship.

Courses

Technical and Technological – 60 hours

Objective:

  1. Understand the concept of “business model” and its complexity within the Industrial Technologies sector.
  2. Equip technically‑oriented profiles with new key business competencies.

Key Topics:

  • Additive manufacturing and its various applications and techniques.
  • Robotics.
  • IoT.
  • Cloud computing.
  • Big data.
  • Virtual reality.
  • Prototyping: rapid manufacturing, agile tools.
  • Etc.

Entrepreneurship and Business Management – 40 hours

Objective:

  1. Understand the new technologies available to tackle current challenges by creating innovative business models in the Industrial Technologies sector.
  2. Apply these technologies to your business idea.

Key Topics:

  • Business model.
  • Value proposition.
  • Prototyping: testing and validation.
  • Pricing and sales.
  • Human resources.
  • Funding.
  • Etc.

Mentoring

Each entrepreneurial project has access to a pool of mentoring hours designed to help you grow and refine your projects. We encourage you to make the most of these hours by scheduling sessions with your mentor and sharing questions and ideas. It’s an excellent opportunity to receive tailored support and reflect on your progress.

Objective:

1. For current active entrepreneurial projects: pre‑acceleration.

  • Support in technological and technical design and validation.
  • Support in business model testing and validation strategy, aligned with the sector.
  • Cross‑functional support and project management for the entrepreneurial project.

2. For future entrepreneurs: idea to seed.

  • Provide tools to start thinking about general problems to be solved with technology.
  • Deliver key knowledge for future projects.
