Stage 2
The first step is the deposit authorisation by your thesis supervisors, who will analyse the thesis document using a plagiarism detection application.
The supervisors will review and complete the necessary data for the preparation of the quality report and may ask you to add more information. They will also propose external examiners. All theses, before the deposit is made, must be reviewed by at least two external experts from outside UPC, who must belong to international institutions in the event that you have applied for the international mention on the doctoral title.
Subsequently, the Academic Committee will appoint the external examiners who will finally review your thesis. The Academic Committee may accept the proposal from the supervisor or may appoint new ones.
The external experts will prepare a reasoned report on the suitability of your work and your thesis, and they may suggest corrections or improvements. You will have access to an anonymised version of the reports when they are available via PheDra.
Once the examiners’ reports have been received, the Academic Committee may request you to make changes or improvements to the document, based on the proposals of the external examiners or the committee itself. It will also determine who will monitor the implementation of these changes. In this case, you will receive an email with a link to PheDra where you will need to re-upload the modified version of the thesis, along with a document explaining the changes made.
Once the changes have been made, where applicable, the Academic Committee will proceed to prepare the quality report of the thesis and accept the deposit. If the thesis does not meet the quality standards, it may also cancel the deposit.
If the thesis deposit is accepted, the managing unit will take care of registering the thesis deposit, and you will receive an email to proceed with the payment.
