Stage 1

Once the procedures described in the “Before the Thesis Deposit” section (Applications for Publications Compendium and Confidentiality, where applicable) have been completed, you can start your thesis deposit application.

The application is processed via PheDra, and it will ask you to indicate the official title of the doctoral thesis and its translation into Catalan, Spanish, and English, and if you wish to apply for the international and/or industrial mention on the title. Remember that if you wish to make any changes to the thesis title compared to the title in the Research Plan, you need the approval of your thesis supervisors.

The managing unit of your doctoral programme will validate that you are in a position to make the application, and will check whether you meet the requirements to apply for the mentioned designations.

Once validated by the managing unit, the system will send you a notification so that you can continue to enter the necessary data for the deposit of the doctoral thesis. In particular, you will need to provide:

  • A summary of the thesis in Catalan, Spanish, and English. The UPC Languages and Terminology Service offers a free service for reviewing the summaries in English and Catalan, and for translation into Catalan.
  • The file of the doctoral thesis and the thesis annex in a computer-readable PDF format.
  • The latest validated version of the DAD that you will have to generate from AteneaPhD.
  • Complementary data such as the UNESCO codes, Sustainable Development Goals, keywords, defence language, and the type of publication licence.
  • Necessary information for the generation of the quality report

You can save the draft of the data entered at any time and continue the session at another moment.

Once the data entry is completed, you must press the forward button, and your application will be validated by your thesis supervisors.

If your intervention is needed at any time, you will receive a notification in your official UPC email inbox. At any time, you can check the status of your application in PheDra.
