Assessment
Once the defence and discussion have ended, both you and the audience must leave the room so that the examination committee can draw up the assessment results. At that moment, the examination committee may consult your activity report (DAD), because, although it gives a quantitative mark, the report can help it to qualitatively assess your doctoral thesis.
Finally, the examination committee signs the official examination results, having decided to award the final mark that it considers appropriate from the following:
-
Fail
-
Pass
-
Good
-
Excellent
If the final mark for your thesis is Excellent, the examination committee may award a cum laude distinction by secret ballot. The votes are counted by the Standing Committee of the Doctoral School in a different session.
