Stage 5

The proposal from the academic committee of your programme, together with the Vice-Rector for Academic Policy, designates the tribunal that will assess your doctoral thesis. The composition of the tribunal must comply with the requirements set out in the academic regulations for doctoral studies at the University.

Once the defence event has been scheduled and up until the moment it is due to take place, it is the responsibility of the chairman or chairwoman of the tribunal to arrange appropriate substitute measures (among the alternate members), in the event that any full member resigns or is materially unable to attend. If this is not possible, the chairman or chairwoman must cancel the event and set an alternative date. Should the member to be replaced be the one acting as chairman or chairwoman, the academic committee is responsible for selecting a replacement from among the remaining full and alternate members.

The member (in a tribunal of three members) or the members (in a tribunal of five members) and the chairman or chairwoman may participate via videoconference.
